Softball Recap: Lakeview Takes a Loss

Lakeview extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shepaug Valley Spartans. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2019.

As for Shepaug Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Lakeview since April 11, 2016.

For Shepaug Valley's part, Cameron Tisi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, Tisi is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Shepaug Valley's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Clare Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Lakeview will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Thomaston at 3:45 p.m. on May 7. As for Shepaug Valley, they will face off against Abbott RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
