Baseball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Hinsdale Central Red Devils

The Lyons Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Hinsdale Central Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lyons is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Lyons came out on top against Hinsdale Central on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Lions blew past the Red Devils 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lions have posted against the Red Devils since April 20, 2022.

Dylan Justinich spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Blake Ragsdale was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cam Clarke, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lyons kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Lyons has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hinsdale Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
