Basketball Recap: Wayne County Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Wayne County and Hillcrest squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Wayne County had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Despite the loss, Wayne County still got an impressive performance from Cayman Camfield, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 16 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Bell, who posted 13 points.

Hillcrest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Morgan out in front who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Cornell Watson, who earned 11 points.

Wayne County's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 27-9. As for Hillcrest, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-6.

Wayne County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hillcrest, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-50 loss against Chattanooga Prep on the 22nd.
