On Wednesday, everything went Millbrook's way against Cary as Millbrook made off with a 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Imps: they've now won five in a row.
Nicole Drew made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-5. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Brynn Herman was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Giovanna Hunter, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Millbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Rolesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Wake. Rams fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Wednesday.
Gianna D'Antonio made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Bolster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Rolesville's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Millbrook, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Rolesville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Millbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. It's a different story for Rolesville, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Millbrook's hitters?
Millbrook suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Rolesville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Millbrook avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
