Basketball Game Preview: Highland Park Giants vs. Leyden Eagles

The Highland Park Giants will head out on the road to face off against the Leyden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Highland Park faced off against Glenbrook South. in a Mythical Matchup on Thursday. Highland Park came up short against Glenbrook South, falling 65-45. While losing is never fun, the Giants can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Titans are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Leyden suffered their biggest loss since February 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They took a blow against Downers Grove North, falling 42-10. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Eagles' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Leyden's defeat dropped their record down to 21-10. As for Highland Park, their loss dropped their record down to 19-8.

Highland Park skirted past Leyden 40-37 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
