Pontiac had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came out on top against the Normal West Wildcats by a score of 5-1. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Elena Krause was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Krause wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Hinz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Tessa Collins was another, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Pontiac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Normal West only managed two hits.

Pontiac's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Normal West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-18.

Pontiac and Normal West could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Indians (ranked 35th) will meet Marist (ranked second) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Normal West will face off against Rock Island on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (224 vs. 54).
