Basketball Recap: Paoli Comes Up Short

Paoli was the 48-18 winner over Edgewood when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Paoli Rams fell 47-38 to the Edgewood Mustangs on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Mustangs are ranked 87th).

When it comes to explaining why Paoli lost, don't look at Jericho Hopper. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Hopper is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played.

Edgewood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Macey Crider, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Murphy, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Paoli and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Edgewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Paoli will venture away from home to take on Clarksville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edgewood, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mt. Vernon at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th.
