Volleyball Recap: Botkins' Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against Riverside on Saturday, Botkins came back down to earth. The Trojans fell 3-1 to the New Knoxville Rangers on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Botkins started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.

Ashlynn Grewe paced Botkins' offense, picking up 15 kills. Grewe got some help from Peyton Platfoot and her 29 assists. Kaitlyn Meyer controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Botkins fell to 3-1. As for New Knoxville, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Botkins will square off against Fort Loramie at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redskins will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Knoxville, they will face off against Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
