Baseball Recap: Murrieta Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Murrieta Mesa

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Murrieta Valley). They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Murrieta Mesa Rams on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Alex Elizondo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Brady Zomerdyke and Diesel Douglas did most of the damage at the plate: Zomerdyke scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Douglas went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most runs Zomerdyke has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Enriquez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Murrieta Valley moved to 4-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Murrieta Mesa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Murrieta Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against Murrieta Mesa: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
