Softball Recap: Staples Takes a Loss

Staples extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-4 in the process. They came up short against the Immaculate Mustangs, falling 11-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Wreckers were not able to get on the board.

As for Immaculate, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Considering they have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Immaculate's part, the result came thanks to Sophia Schnatz's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

On the hitting side, Laurel Pucci was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Costa, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Staples will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ludlowe at 4:00 p.m. As for Immaculate, they will venture away from home to square off against Brookfield at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
