Basketball Recap: Tahlequah Takes a Loss

Tahlequah suffered their biggest defeat since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the Bishop Kelley Comets, falling 53-30. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Bishop Kelley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anne Blankenship, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Blankenship has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 36 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Grisaffe, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 16 points.

Tahlequah moved to 5-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Bishop Kelley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Tahlequah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-38 loss against Verdigris on the 25th. As for Bishop Kelley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-28 victory against Kiefer on the 25th.
