Baseball Recap: Pajaro Valley Comes Up Short

Pajaro Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the North Salinas Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on Tuesday.

As for North Salinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The game marked their most dominant win of the season.

For North Salinas' part, Jake Burkhardt and David Avina did most of the damage at the plate: Burkhardt went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Avina went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Avina a new career-high. Drew Cervantes was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Pajaro Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marina at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for North Salinas, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against Alisal on the 19th.
