Basketball Recap: Spencer Comes Up Short

Spencer has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Greenwood Indians. The Rockets were probably out for revenge after losing 55-31 to them when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Spencer still got an impressive performance from Autumn Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. That was a full 48.8% of Spencer's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmen Krause, who had eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Spencer was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Spencer's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Greenwood, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Spencer will head out on the road to take on Edgar at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenwood, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Stanley-Boyd at 7:15 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
