Basketball Recap: South Central Takes a Loss

South Central fought the good fight in their overtime game against Morgan Township on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morgan Township Cherokees. The Satellites were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cherokees apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

When it comes to explaining why South Central lost, don't look at Samantha Marks. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 13 on her way to 20 points. Lexi Johnson was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Morgan Township got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josie Lemmons out in front who went 7 of 10 on her way to 19 points and three steals. Lemmons has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Wasz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds.

South Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Morgan Township, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

South Central will challenge Washington Township at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morgan Township, they will face off against Kouts at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
