Softball Game Preview: Elysian Fields Yellowjackets vs. Union Grove Lions

The Elysian Fields Yellowjackets will take on the Union Grove Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Elysian Fields managed to slip by Ore City the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Elysian Fields lost 18-9 to Ore City on Tuesday.

Madi Owens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Avery Woodley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Union Grove took on Beckville on Friday. Union Grove came up short against Beckville, falling 13-4. The Lions have struggled against the Bearcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

Union Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Mullican, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Mullican hit this season.

Union Grove's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Elysian Fields, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Union Grove's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Elysian Fields has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. It's a different story for Union Grove, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Elysian Fields' hitters?
