Basketball Recap: Smithville Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Smithville lost to Giddings back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Smithville Tigers took down the Giddings Buffaloes 45-27. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 531st, while the Buffaloes are ranked 1266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Smithville has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Giddings, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Smithville will be playing at home against Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Smithville is facing Caldwell at the right time seeing as Caldwell is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Giddings, they will head out on the road to face off against La Grange at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
