Wasatch Academy proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Dugway Mustangs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 25, 2024.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Wasatch Academy who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-14, 31-33, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9.
Despite the defeat, Dugway had strong showings from Tristian Shields, who had 12 digs and two aces, and Gary Williams, who had 15 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks. Williams is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last six games he's played. Vincent Pace also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.
Wasatch Academy pushed their record up to 6-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Dugway, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Wasatch Academy is taking a road trip to take on Juab at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Dugway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
