Basketball Game Preview: Cristo Rey vs. Mingo Valley Christian Eagles

Cristo Rey are taking a road trip to challenge the Mingo Valley Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cristo Rey has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 4.

Cristo Rey is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Mercy School Institute on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Cristo Rey was dealt a 58-12 defeat at the hands of Mercy School Institute. Cristo Rey was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-8.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Monday. Mingo Valley Christian took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union Christian Academy. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mingo Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Cristo Rey, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Cristo Rey couldn't quite finish off Mingo Valley Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 and fell 2-0. Can Cristo Rey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
