Softball Recap: Biggs Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Biggs had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. They put the hurt on the Loyalton Grizzlies with a sharp 20-2 win. Considering the Wolverines have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Harrison made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Harrison was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Biggs got a massive performance out of Arden Vines, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave Vines a new career-high. Mailey Seipert was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Biggs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in ten consecutive matches.

Biggs pushed their record up to 14-2-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Loyalton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Biggs will take on Quincy at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Loyalton, they will be playing at home against Lassen at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
