Basketball Recap: Laville Falls Short of Jimtown in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact LaVille can now relate to. They lost 63-42 to the Jimtown Jimmies on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jimmies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-34 back in December of 2024.

LaVille's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Collin Czarnecki, who shot 40% from the field en route to 19 points and seven boards, and Lance Edison, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 45.2% of LaVille's points, marking the tenth time in a row Czarnecki has posted more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Branden King, who shot 6-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double with 31 points and 12 boards for Jimtown. King is becoming a predictor of Jimtown's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 9-4 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Will Spurgeon was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

LaVille's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Jimtown, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-10.

LaVille does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jimtown, they will square off against Knox at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jimtown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
