Basketball Preview: Sublette Larks vs. Southwestern Heights Mustangs
The Sublette Larks will head out on the road to square off against the Southwestern Heights Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Sublette ended up a good deal behind the Buffaloes and lost 59-44. While losing is never fun, Sublette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 46th).
Meanwhile, Southwestern Heights' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Stanton County 53-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southwestern Heights in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost four in a row.
Sublette now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Southwestern Heights, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.
Sublette was able to grind out a solid victory over the Mustangs in their previous meeting last Friday, winning 71-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sublette since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
