Basketball Game Preview: Dudley Panthers vs. Southern Guilford Storm

The Dudley Panthers will face off against the Southern Guilford Storm at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dudley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Southern Guilford likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Dudley took on Rockingham County on Friday. Dudley strolled past Rockingham County with points to spare, taking the game 75-61. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Dudley can attribute much of their success to Cortney 'CJ' Jones, who went 11 for 18 en route to 27 points, and Carlos 'CJ' Neely, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Jones' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Foxx, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Dudley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southern Guilford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Eastern Guilford by a score of 57-46 on Friday.

Southern Guilford found their leader in sophomore Amari Robinson, who scored 17 points. Brandon Hall was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Dudley's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Southern Guilford, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-16.

Everything came up roses for Dudley against Southern Guilford when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured an 89-59 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Robinson, who earned 27 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Dudley still be able to contain Robinson?
