NCISAA Big East recap October 1, 2013
Harrells Christian Academy's Sammy Dixon rumbled for the longest rushing play in NCISAA Big East this season in his game against Cannon last week. Dixon's team topped the Cougars as he sprinted for 59 yards on the play and finished with 204 in all.
Harrells Christian Academy moved up to 185 from 212 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Brian Aldridge's team was able to move up by topping Cannon 75-7.
The Crusaders' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. O. H. Rouse threw for 72 yards and Kelly Nelms had 44 yards receiving. On the ground Nelms contributed 224 yards.
Harrells Christian Academy's dynamic duo of Rouse and Nelms proved to be unstoppable against Donnie Hayes' team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Nelms was a beast in the backfield as the Crusaders bested the Cougars.
Nelms provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Harrells Christian Academy defeated Cannon.
Dixon was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Crusaders defeated the Cougars. The 5-foot-11 junior grabbed 3.0 sacks.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, North Raleigh Christian Academy's Richard Landis and Daniel Rose have proven to be a lethal combination. Landis has thrown for 560 yards this season, while Rose, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 38 catches for 379 yards. Nelms from Harrells Christian Academy leads the league in rushing with 713 yards.
The top two teams in NCISAA Big East will face off this week when first place Harrells Christian Academy takes on second place Wake Christian Academy. Last week, the Crusaders beat Cannon, while Wake Christian Academy bested Kestrel Heights.
