Basketball Recap: Kindred Extends Winning Streak to Five

Kindred had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They strolled past the Wahpeton Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 71-57. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Huskies are ranked 52nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Wahpeton still got an impressive performance from Scout Woods, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. Wahpeton is 6-3 when Woods posts eight or more boards, but 3-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Miller, who posted 12 points.

Kindred pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points over those games. As for Wahpeton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.

Coming up, Kindred will be playing in front of their home fans against Lisbon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Kindred is facing Lisbon at the right time seeing as Lisbon is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Wahpeton, they will head out to challenge Oak Grove Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
