Soccer Game Preview: Apple Valley vs. Oak Hills

The Apple Valley Sun Devils will head out to face off against the Oak Hills Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Apple Valley fell victim to Sultana and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Sultans, falling 10-0. The loss continues a trend for the Sun Devils in their matchups with the Sultans: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Oak Hills put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Hesperia a 1-0 shutout. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Scorpions are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oak Hills' one-goal win came courtesy of Raul Becerra, who's now up to two this season.

Apple Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-4. As for Oak Hills, they pushed their record up to 16-0-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Apple Valley came up short against Oak Hills in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Apple Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
