Baseball Recap: Newberg Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Newberg challenged Century on Tuesday. The Tigers fell 5-1 to the Jaguars. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 6-0.

Newberg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zadek Bowlby, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Newberg has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Century, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-14.

While Newberg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
