Softball Game Preview: Columbus Cardinals vs. Luling Eagles

The Columbus Cardinals will take on the Luling Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Columbus barely beat Shiner the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Comanches with a sharp 7-1 win on Monday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Luling finally came back down to earth last Tuesday. They lost 13-1 to Poth. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Columbus' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Luling, their loss dropped their record down to 13-15.

Everything went Columbus' way against Luling in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Columbus made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
