 Newark Memorial is 8-2 against American since May of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Wednesday. The Newark Memorial Cougars are on the road again  to play the American Eagles at 4:00  p.m. Both teams come into the  match bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 Last Saturday,  it was close, but  Newark Memorial sidestepped Wood for  a  2-1 win.
 Newark Memorial's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Malosi Gaoteote, who  went 1-for-3 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Meanwhile, American made easy work of Mission San Jose  last Thursday and carried off  an  8-1 win. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for American.
  Micah Boo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out ten batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. Boo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Boo was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Maxx Machuca was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Jacob Yudashkin, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Newark Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for American, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four games,  which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record  this season.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Wednesday as both teams have some strikeout artists on the roster. Newark Memorial has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 8.4  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like American struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 8.4. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
