Basketball Recap: Spanish River Comes Up Short

Spanish River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Park Vista Cobras. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sharks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-60 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Spanish River lost, don't look at Samantha Solodkin. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Solodkin a new career-high in points.

Even though they lost, Spanish River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Park Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyaiwana Ousley, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Ousley's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Marlenny Hernandez was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Spanish River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Park Vista, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Spanish River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-18 win against Benjamin on the 13th. As for Park Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-15 victory against Lake Worth Christian on the 10th.
