Basketball Game Preview: Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks vs. Averill Park Warriors

Saratoga Springs and Averill Park are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks will head out on the road to challenge the Averill Park Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Saratoga Springs is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Columbia on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Saratoga Springs lost 56-36 to Columbia. The Blue Streaks haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Averill Park's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shenendehowa. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Plainsmen 14-10 in the first quarter.

Averill Park's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3. As for Saratoga Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Saratoga Springs took a serious blow against Averill Park in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 57-28. Can Saratoga Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
