Baseball Recap: Kirbyville Comes Up Short

Kirbyville blew Warren out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Warren got their revenge. The Wildcats fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Cooper Murphy put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Murphy wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Myers, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Myers hit this season.

Kirbyville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Warren, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kirbyville will take on East Chambers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Wildcats' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while the Buccaneers have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Warren, they will square off against Hardin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
