Top 10 national football prospect
Cam Akers announced Tuesday night that he is headed to Florida State next year.
Regarded as the No. 2 running back prospect in the country according to 247Sports, Akers picked the Seminoles over Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi and Tennessee, among others.
HSFNetwork.com streamed the decision live and drew an audience of over 20,000 viewers.
The 5-foot-11, 213-pound Akers is coming off a monster senior season at quarterback for Mississippi Class 6A state champion
Clinton. He threw for 3,128 yards and 31 touchdowns (vs. six interceptions) while running for 2,105 yards and 34 more scores.
A four-year varsity starter, Akers totaled 8,010 offensive yards and 84 touchdowns in his first three years at Clinton. The Arrows went 32-9 over his final three seasons.
