Baseball Recap: Farmington Comes Up Short

Farmington lost against Layton back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Phoenix fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 4-3.

Josh Hecht was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Landon Leavitt was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. Kaden Stock also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Farmington has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Layton, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

While Farmington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
