Football Recap: Highland Comes Up Short on the Road Against Flatirons Academy

Highland had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 14-13 to the Flatirons Academy Bison. The Huskies gained 185 more yards on the day, but it was the Bison that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Elijah Elder, who rushed for 101 yards on only nine carries. Elder didn't just play on offense: he also made 13 total tackles and defended one pass.

The critical scores for Flatirons Academy came from Jackson Schulz and Everson Nelson.

Looking ahead, Highland will challenge Platte Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Flatirons Academy, they will face off against Limon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
