Baseball Recap: Grove City Christian Wins Going Away Against Wellington School

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grandview Heights, Grove City Christian was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Wellington School Jaguars. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jeff Collins spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Peyton Fillinger was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadunn Harris, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Grove City Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.6.

Grove City Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-7-1. As for Wellington School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-4 record this season.
