Basketball Game Preview: Ellington Knights vs. Berlin Redcoats

Ellington hasn't had much luck against Berlin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Ellington Knights will challenge the Berlin Redcoats at 6:00 p.m. Ellington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Ellington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 52-28 margin over Waterford. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Berlin didn't have too much trouble with Law on Wednesday as they won 53-39. Given the Redcoats' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Lawmen are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Berlin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. Ellington's record is now 8-6.

Ellington lost to Berlin on the road by a decisive 59-40 margin in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Ellington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
