Basketball Recap: Skyview Takes a Loss

Skyview has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Columbia Wildcats on Saturday, falling 77-51. The Hawks were down 61-33 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Columbia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blake Hansen led the charge by shooting 5-for-9 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards. Hansen has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Lott, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 14 points along with six boards and five steals.

Skyview's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Columbia, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season.

Skyview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Columbia, they will square off against Hillcrest at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Hillcrest's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests.
