Preview: York Falcons vs. Kirby Prep Griffins
York is 6-0 against Kirby Prep since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The York Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Kirby Prep Griffins at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After a string of four wins, York's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were dealt a 82-46 loss at the hands of Pacific Collegiate. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat York has suffered against Pacific Collegiate since January 12, 2016.
Kirby Prep suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Harbor 67-31. Kirby Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Kirby Prep had strong showings from Chris Lively, who scored 14 points, and Rain Li, who scored 12 points.
York's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-1. As for Kirby Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
York strolled past Kirby Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2020 by a score of 58-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for York since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
