Baseball Recap: Baker Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pensacola Christian Academy last Tuesday, Baker came back down to earth. Baker fell just short of the Destin Sharks by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the Sharks: they've now lost three in a row.

Joel Morse made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Baker: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maddox Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Baker's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Destin, they moved to 5-9 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baker will take on Rocky Bayou Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Destin, they will face off against Lighthouse Private Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
