Softball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

The Woonsocket Villa Novans will square off against the Mt. Hope Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses dating back to last season for Woonsocket and seven for Mt. Hope.

Woonsocket fell victim to Johnston and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 17-0.

Meanwhile, Mt. Hope came up short against Scituate on Monday and fell 10-5.

Callie DaPonte was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Waddell, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Woonsocket's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mt. Hope, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Woonsocket was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Hope when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. Do the Villa Novans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
