Baseball Recap: Westerly Bulldogs vs. East Providence Townies
Westerly fell victim to East Providence and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Townies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in June of 2024.
Westerly saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nikko Nastasi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Nastasi snagged this season.
Westerly now has a losing record of 3-4. As for East Providence, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Westerly will face off against rival Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East Providence is set to square off against their familiar foe Bishop Hendricken at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Townies 1.7, the Hawks 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
