Basketball Recap: Dunbar Comes Up Short

Dunbar lost against Oasis back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Dunbar Tigers took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oasis Sharks. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Dunbar saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addision Fuhr dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for Fuhr. Another player making a difference was Deziar Davenport, who posted 17 points and seven steals.

Oasis was led to victory by Tessa Bexfield and Brynn Stambaugh. Bexfield had 26 points and seven rebounds, while Stambaugh put up 26 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Bexfield's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelynn Jakubowski, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

Dunbar's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Oasis, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Dunbar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-12 win against Riverdale on the 5th. As for Oasis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-38 loss against North Fort Myers on the 5th.
