Basketball Game Preview: Henrico Warriors vs. Mechanicsville Mustangs

The Henrico Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Mechanicsville Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Saturday, Henrico came up short against St. Mary's Ryken and fell 56-45. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mechanicsville lost to John Marshall on the road by a 55-37 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Justices are ranked 102nd).

Mechanicsville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Henrico, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Henrico was able to grind out a solid win over Mechanicsville when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 62-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Henrico since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
