Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Regional Green Knights vs. Glen Rock Panthers

The St. Joseph Regional Green Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Glen Rock Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Joseph Regional will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

St. Joseph Regional is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Jersey's top teams: St. Peter's Prep, who was ranked 21st at the time (St. Joseph Regional was ranked 22nd). The Green Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Marauders on Saturday.

Logan Jarer tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Myles Gomez was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Zeccardi, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Glen Rock made easy work of Dwight-Englewood on Saturday and carried off a 12-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by ten runs or more this season.

Glen Rock is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph Regional, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7.
