Christian Community picks up seventh straight win on the road

Recap: Christian Community Warriors vs. Westside Christian Academy Eagles

The Christian Community Warriors came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 54-48 victory over Westside Christian Academy. Given Christian Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Westside Christian Academy is ranked 741st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Seth Roberts, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Grant Doeringer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nate Taylor, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Cottenden, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.

Christian Community's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Westside Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

After both having extra time off, Christian Community and Horizon Science Academy will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Westside Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on First Baptist Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. First Baptist Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
