Softball Game Preview: Independence Patriots vs. Washington Rams

The Independence Patriots will face off against the Washington Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Independence's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Washington has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Independence took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Browne, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Independence had just enough and edged out Browne 4-3.

Mariana Perez Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nailea Lopez Flores was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Washington came up short against Glendale on Thursday and fell 15-10.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything went Independence's way against Washington in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Independence made off with a 15-9 win. Will Independence repeat their success, or does Washington has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
