Football Recap: Mcclatchy Starts Season with Win Against River Valley

McClatchy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 26-6 margin over the River Valley Falcons. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Lions just coasted through the last quarter.

The critical scores for McClatchy came from Jake Ferris, Robert Jackson III, Landon Moton, and John Anthon Zulli.

McClatchy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. King Blackshire led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Moton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, River Valley still got an impressive performance from Kavari Drummonds, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one score.

Coming up, McClatchy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Davis Sr. at 7:30 p.m. As for River Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Pioneer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
