Basketball Recap: Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans vs. Miami Vandals
Leading Edge Academy - GEC suffered their closest defeat since November 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Miami Vandals by a score of 57-54. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vandals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Miami to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raejon Way, who posted 25 points and four steals. That's the most points Way has posted since back in December of 2024. Deray Mathis was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Leading Edge Academy - GEC is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9. As for Miami, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leading Edge Academy - GEC will challenge San Tan Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Tan Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Leading Edge Academy - GEC likes a good challenge. As for Miami, they will face off against Pima at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Miami is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
