Basketball Game Preview: DeKalb Barbs vs. Waubonsie Valley Warriors

DeKalb has won nine straight games at home, while Waubonsie Valley has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The DeKalb Barbs will host the Waubonsie Valley Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, DeKalb earned a 65-53 victory over Metea Valley. Given the Barbs' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Mustangs are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Waubonsie Valley strolled past Naperville Central with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 75-59. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Redhawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Waubonsie Valley's victory bumped their record up to 29-1. As for DeKalb, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.

Things could have been worse for DeKalb, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-39 loss to Waubonsie Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024.
