Soccer Game Preview: Telluride vs. Crested Butte

The Telluride Miners will square off against the Crested Butte Titans on Saturday. Telluride is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Telluride is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Colorado Springs Christian a 2-0 shutout.

Obi Clarke and Thomas Mahoney scored both of Telluride's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 29 goals.

Meanwhile, Crested Butte came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 8-0 win. Considering Crested Butte have won 11 contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Telluride's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Crested Butte, their win bumped their record up to 12-2-1.

Telluride suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Crested Butte when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Miners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
